At In Color Studios, we believe Las Vegas isn’t just a destination—it’s the next frontier in cinematic innovation, where immersive venues and bold storytelling converge to reshape how film meets audience.”

Major Studio Moves and Legislative Drama
A bold bid to bring Hollywood’s biggest players—Sony Pictures Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery—to Las Vegas via a 31-acre Summerlin Studios project made headlines. The Nevada Assembly narrowly approved Assembly Bill 238 to unlock up to $1.4 billion in tax credits over 15 years, aiming to catalyze mass production in Summerlin. However, the bill died in the Senate when lawmakers failed to merge it with a companion SB 220 bill and missed the session deadline.

Sphere’s Next Chapter: AI‑Enhanced Classics
Sphere Entertainment continues to push boundaries. On August 28, 2025, they’ll debut an AI-enhanced immersive version of The Wizard of Oz on the Sphere’s colossal 160,000 sq. ft., 16K display. Developed with Warner Bros. Discovery, Google’s Cloud/DeepMind, and Magnopus, the project uses AI to upscale the film, expand backgrounds, and even insert characters originally off-screen—all to deepen the sensory experience.

Sports and Storytelling Collide
The Summer League Film Festival, held during the NBA Summer League at Thomas & Mack Center, spotlighted 34 athlete-driven film projects. Athletes like Kevin Garnett, Bronny James, and others screened documentaries on sports and culture, supported by industry figures like Mark Wahlberg and Deon Taylor. The event is being hailed as a new platform bridging sports and cinema, with potential to expand nationwide.

Local Indie Momentum
Meanwhile, The Beverly Theater—Las Vegas’s only independent movie house—is launching its own distribution arm, Ink Films. And the recent Nevada Women’s Film Festival at UNLV showcased Riot in Bloom, a student-and-faculty-led film entering festival circuits and seeking distribution.

 Final Take
Las Vegas is fast evolving from entertainment capital to film production hub. While legislative roadblocks linger, innovation thrives—from immersive tech at the Sphere to athlete-made cinema and grassroots indie initiatives. The city is carving its place in the broader film ecosystem.
