F1 Las Vegas - Event Coverage
Formula 1 Las Vegas Production for MGM Resorts
When Formula 1 came to Las Vegas, MGM Resorts needed an experienced production company capable of capturing one of the biggest events in the city while delivering a huge volume of social content at speed. In Color Studios was selected to manage production coverage across MGM properties throughout the Formula 1 Las Vegas weekend.
The project involved multiple film crews, photographers, producers, runners and onsite editors working simultaneously across the Las Vegas Strip. With content being captured continuously throughout the event, the challenge wasn't simply creating great images. It was building a production operation capable of getting that content from camera to audience as quickly as possible, without sacrificing quality.
Building a Production Operation for Speed
In Color Studios managed the entire operation, from planning and pre-production through crew management, filming, photography, media handling, editing and final delivery. At the center of the project was a dedicated production office that we built inside an MGM property on the Strip. This became the operational hub for the entire production, bringing production management and post-production together in one central location.
As film crews and photographers captured content across the MGM properties, runners physically transported media cards back to the production office. Rather than waiting for uploads or for crews to return at the end of the day, our onsite photo and video editors could begin working almost immediately. While one piece of content was being edited and delivered, crews were already out capturing the next.
This workflow allowed us to turn around exciting, polished and impactful content incredibly quickly, giving MGM the ability to capitalize on the energy and attention surrounding Formula 1 in real time across its social channels.
Why Experience Matters on High-Profile Events
Large-scale events like Formula 1 leave very little room for error. Schedules change, access changes, crowds move and important moments happen once. An experienced production crew understands how to anticipate those moments, adapt quickly and continue delivering in a fast-moving environment.
The success of a production like this also starts long before the cameras roll. Detailed pre-production is essential. Crew structure, locations, access, equipment, communication, transportation, media management and delivery workflows all need to be considered in advance. Having the right people in the right positions means multiple crews can operate independently while still functioning as part of one coordinated production.
For MGM's Formula 1 coverage, every part of the operation was designed around speed, quality and consistency. In Color Studios managed the crews, photographers, logistics, production office, media workflow, onsite post-production and final delivery, allowing MGM's team to focus on the event while we managed the production behind it.
Multi-format and cross platform assets
Another important part of the production was creating content for cross-platform delivery. Social content is no longer produced in a single format, so our teams planned and captured with multiple outputs in mind from the beginning. Deliverables included vertical 9:16 content for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok and Stories, square 1:1 assets for social feeds, and traditional 16:9 widescreen content for web, YouTube and broader marketing use. Thinking about these formats during production—not after the edit—allows compositions, camera coverage and key moments to work properly across every platform, giving the client more usable content from the same production and significantly extending the value of every shoot.
High-Volume Content With Long-Term Value
Throughout the Formula 1 weekend, our teams generated a huge volume of photography and video content for distribution across MGM's social channels. The combination of experienced crews in the field and editors working onsite allowed content to move from capture to final delivery extremely quickly.
But the value of the production didn't end when the race weekend was over. Alongside the immediate social output, the footage and photography created a substantial library of premium marketing assets that MGM could continue to use across future campaigns, digital marketing, social media and brand communications.
For major events, capturing content is only one part of the job. The real challenge is creating the production infrastructure that allows a large team to work together seamlessly while delivering exceptional work at extraordinary speed.
That's what In Color Studios brought to Formula 1 Las Vegas for MGM Resorts: experienced crews, detailed planning, high-volume production and world-class delivery, all managed through one seamless operation.
